Live-in caregivers are paid a daily salary, not an hourly rate.
  • Twenty (24) hour care: With 24-hour care, there are multiple shift possibilities throughout the day. Each shift is assigned to a different caregiver to allow breaks. This avoids the fatigue of the caregiver and ensures that the client is receiving the best possible care. The most common shift is receiving the best possible care. The most common shifts are either three 8 hour shifts or two 12-hour shifts. This means that someone is with the client day and night. There is no lapse in time. 24-hour care is billed on an hourly basis.
  • Overnight care: Overnight care is offered to ensure the safety and security of clients who may get up frequently during the night or wander due to dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Caregiver shifts are typically 12-hour shifts.
